CSP Programs
The program works to achieve increased capacity and community participation and the reduction of social isolation in Cambodian community. Program activities include information and referral, client escort, volunteering coordination, community network and out reach.
Cambodian New Comer "Words of Mouth" out reach
The objective of this initiative is to reach out and have direct contact to isolated and at-risk newcomers in the community, and those who are in need of the social services provided by the Canadian Cambodian Association of Ontario. The best way to promote the services that are available to newcomers is the method of direct personal contact, which is to say, by means of "word of mouth" and a verbal exchange with CCAO staff. The CCAO will have a booth at every community event and social gathering and this engagement will have a great impact on informing newcomers and community members of the services that CCAO provides. The CCAO objective is to have Cambodian community members in the city of Toronto and abroad aware that the Canadian Cambodian Association has the resources and staff to assist newcomers in their adaptation into Canadian society.
Cambodian Senior
This project will prevent isolation amongst the Cambodian seniors. Cambodian seniors will a weekly social recreational program, where they will cook and exchange recipe to one another and participate other activities. Seniors participation in this project will continue to promote ongoing involvement of senior in the Cambodian community. The program will bring awareness, education, and life-skill for them.
In the year 2010-2011 the senior will producing a cook book. The cook book will contain a variety of traditional dishes. The cook book is the resource to the next generation, by providing cooking skills and cultural preservation.
